Episode: Choose Your Story is a fun and addictive game that lets you make decisions about your path through a story as it unfolds. This added interactive aspect makes stories a lot more fun to read, and the animation that goes along with all the action greatly adds to the entertainment value.

Pros

Increasing story options: When you first download the game, you have a choice of two different stories to get you started. Every three days that you play, you have the opportunity to unlock more stories as well, so you'll never be at a loss for a good narrative to lose yourself in.

Write your own: This app also provides you with the option to write your own story. You can start the process in the app, although to complete your creation, you'll have to use a computer. But you'll also come back to the app to test your story and see what adjustments may need to be made.

Cons

Wait for passes: You only have access to the story a couple of chapters at a time, as you need to wait to earn passes to unlock the next installments. This is a pretty standard practice with this type of app, but the balance between the number of passes you get and how long you have to wait for them is significantly off in this case. This game makes you wait four hours for two passes, and these passes don't accumulate, meaning that no matter how long you are away from the game, you'll only have two passes when you come back to it. Of course, you can buy more passes via in-app purchases if you want to continue sooner.

Bottom Line

Episode is a great idea and brings up memories of the choose-your-own-adventure books we read as kids. The only real drawback is the balance between time and free passes, especially because each chapter only takes about 5 minutes to get through. But the app is free to try out, and it's a great way to take a break from your real life for a little while here and there.
