thati is the best explanation of heeling I have ever heard. thank you for putting it on youtube. now I have to go put into practice. I am a header but I have always wanted to heel and it was mostly hit and miss. no one ever explained like you just did. Even ropers that are pros who give lessons. I appreciate it. I sat the computer at the library and wrote down every word you said so I put into practice.
Thank you... what a great job breaking it down. I hope you do more videos. David Key has a great video on leading with the elbow, and your video adds and complete's his.
Same, I have grown-up farm and ranch, mainly with my grandpa but lately I’ve been working with a couple different neighbors all helping each other. I am actually quite good header, but have never healed. If my grandpa and I needed to catch one in the pastures for whatever reason, he would drive the four wheeler and roped them, let go of the rope. Then we would go get the truck, and drive up on the rope, and run them around the truck taking up the slack. These neighbor families work from horseback, but I’m always the one on the ground. I i’ve always wanted to and would absolutely love to try roping from horseback. The Cowboys and cowgirls I’ve been helping twice a year for the last three years would probably let me. But We’ve always got a a lot of calves to work, and it’s very fast paste. Plus I don’t know if it’s considered bad etiquette, but I feel Like it’d be disrespectful to ask somebody if you can ride their horse without them first offering.
Oh my god finally someone who explained heeling so much easier. Thank you !!
This is such a perfect explanation
That is as simple as I have ever heard heeling explained. Thanks you so much.
